Here's another interesting idea for why we dress up on Purim - it's a type of Tikun for the sin of the eating of Etz HaDaat, which resulted among other things in HaShem clothing us human beings. Now, as Chazal teach us, during the revelation on mt.Siani the defilement of the Nachash left us, but when we made the Egel, it crept back on us. But, on Purim when we received the Torah again from love, as Chazal say in Masechet Megillah, we won over the Nachash again... But, most of the Jews of that generation stayed in Galut even after the salvation from Haman, so we couldn't take off our clothes (so to speak), the Kotnot Or (with an Ayin), while we were still in Galut. However, we get to make a mock of clothes every year, to joke on their expense, cause from there on we knew we're on the right track! And eventually we'll win over the Nachash and be able to go back to our garments of light - Kotnot Ohr (with an Alef). Thanks for the inspirational lesson that helped bring the Chidush down. Wonderful presentation, Rabbi. I just wonder again, you say that the natural order of the Jewish people is beyond nature, in the miraculous world, and yet I wonder... Cause I was taught that that is one facet of our nation, but that as embassadors of Achdut, of monotheism, our job is actually to make peace between the mundane world and the supernatural, heavenly rhelms. I actually understand that this is precisely why the Exodus was not and could not have been a full and final redemption - because God had to push nature aside in order to get us out of there before it was too late. However, at the end of days, the final redemption which we are slowly experiencing since the inauguration of the state of Israel, the miracles don't break nature, they take it along with the story, so to speak. Satan infiltrated the world far more than people know. Let me ask you a question. Psalm 40:6 and Psalm 51:16 states he never wanted more nor does He want sacrifices. So why are you still trying to build a temple to offer them? Why did your ancestors write it was part of the law? 1 Kings 8:27 and 2 Chronicles 6:18 states that nothing can contain Him, so why are you trying to contain Him by wanting to build another temple? So you see, the problem is the human mind being open to be wrong. If it wasn’t, there would be no need for Malachi 4:5-6 or Isaiah 49, or Jeremiah 49, Daniel 12:5-11.
